Individual packing
A rigid, opaque box, non-adhesive protection, cushioning on all sides, reinforcement and double boxing whenever fragility requires it.
Written terms
Carrier, tracking, delivery method, cost and coverage ceiling are stated before payment.
One point of contact
If an incident occurs, FOLIA MUNDI gathers the evidence and manages the claim with the carrier.
Books and manuscripts receive acid-free protection, a moisture barrier and rigid boards. The piece is immobilised without direct contact with the outer walls; fragile objects are double-boxed. The piece and the packing stages are photographed, and proof of lodgement is retained.
Within Switzerland
Coverage depends on value and fragility.
An ordinary Swiss parcel is tracked, but Swiss Post’s basic liability is capped at CHF 500.
Up to this value, FOLIA MUNDI normally uses PostPac Priority with tracking and the Signature option.
From CHF 1,501 to CHF 5,000, the Insurance option raises the carrier’s liability ceiling to CHF 5,000.
For a sensitive piece, Fragile provides special handling and a CHF 5,000 liability ceiling, subject to compatibility with the selected service.
Collection, personal delivery or specialist transport with the insured value confirmed in writing; an ordinary postal parcel is not presented as adequately covered.
A liability ceiling is not a promise that the sale price will automatically be reimbursed. Compensation depends on proven loss and the carrier’s terms. FOLIA MUNDI therefore never promises “full-value insurance” without contractual confirmation. An electronic delivery authorisation granted by the recipient may also allow Swiss Post to deposit a Signature or Insurance shipment without collecting a signature at the time of delivery.

On receipt
What if the parcel appears damaged?
Photograph the parcel before opening it and keep the box, all protective materials and the contents.
Visible damage must be reported at delivery. Concealed damage must be reported immediately and no later than eight days afterwards.

Outside Switzerland
An individual quotation is required.
PostPac International includes maximum liability of CHF 500 for an exported parcel. Between CHF 501 and CHF 3,000, it is used only when increased liability is genuinely available for the relevant dispatch account, destination and shipment, and is recorded on the transport documents. Otherwise, above CHF 3,000, or for a particularly fragile or important piece, FOLIA MUNDI obtains a quotation from a specialist carrier with the applicable coverage confirmed in writing. International tracking may be incomplete in some countries and all delivery times remain estimates.
Every international goods shipment requires a waybill and advance electronic customs data. A sale is accompanied by a commercial invoice; a shipment not involving a sale uses a pro forma invoice. Import duties, import VAT and clearance charges are normally payable by the recipient unless otherwise agreed in writing.
A rare manuscript, incunable or old book of particular interest may qualify as cultural property. Each piece is therefore reviewed individually before export. Where this status applies, the declaration must include, in particular, the type of object, its place of manufacture or discovery, its date and its dimensions; an authorisation or further formalities may be required depending on the piece and destination.
